Fort St. Charles

At Fort St. Charles, located in the Northwest Angle of Lake of the Woods, a permanent granite Memorial Altar was erected by the Fourth Degree Knights in 1951. A Chapel was built in 1953 and the Fort was restored in 1960. The altar marks the burial place of Minnesota's first martyr priest, Rev. Jean Pierre Aulneau, S.I. in 1732.

This summer, District Master Tom Grinnell and District Marshal Mike Brant, journeyed up to the fort and joined the usual crew for the annual cleaning, upkeep and opening of the fort. Pictures below are from the summer of 2007 trip.
